About Us

Hipswell Village Kindergarten is operated using 18 members of staff who perform full and part-time roles. Every member of our staff is highly trained and committed to providing the very best child care possible for children from birth to five years of age.

The quality of our service has led to our designation as child care provider for the Colburn’s Children Centre.
Trust is the most valuable commodity when it comes to looking after children, and we can be relied on to deliver.

Experience Counts

Hipswell Village Kindergarten is owned and managed by Kirsty Walker, and Linda Wignall who hold a BA Hons degree in Young Children’s Learning and Development and have also achieved Early Years Professional Status. They both have extensive experience working in early years in a wide variety of child care and educational settings.

Kirsty and Linda share the roles of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and The Designated Child Protection Officer within the setting. The experience and knowledge held by Kirsty and Linda has been of vital importance in accelerating the professional development of the staff.

Our Philosophy

We are proud to say that we base our philosophy on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You can take comfort from the fact that we are guided by a statutory framework that sets the standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five years of age. EYFS supports the five outcomes set out in Every Child Matters:

  • Staying Safe
  • Being Healthy
  • Enjoying and Achieving
  • Making a positive contribution
  • Achieving economic well-being

Education at the Heart

At Hipswell Village Kindergarten we value the importance of education and you can depend on our highly-trained team of staff to guide the development of your child during their early years.

Our adoption of the Nursery Education Grant for 3 and 4 year olds allows parents to give their children a head start on their learning. We can speed the early development of your child by providing free early education.

Children under three years years old have weekly sing and sign sessions. We aim to provide a fun and engaging education experience for your child.

Accommodating Finances

Making use of full day care services can be a costly undertaking, but we endeavour to ease the burden, for instance, we will not charge you for bank holidays. Additionally, we participate in a number of different schemes that can make life easier:

  • Care4
  • Computershare
  • Edenred
  • Kiddivouchers
  • Nursery Voucher Schemes
  • Saycare Pass
